Lately i have seen a new style of hoop earrings that are thinner on that side to the ear and then the further out it goes the thicker it gets.

I wouldn't call those new, tapered hoops have been around for ages and I've seen a lot of actresses and singers wearing them. Kim Kardashian was especially fond of them, though I never see pics of her wearing them anymore. Perhaps they're just starting to catch on in your area.

I don't really like the shape of the ones you posted as much, I prefer them more shaped like this. They are, however, my favourite style of hoops. I love the heavy look as well and especially enjoy the movement of these hoops when worn.
